Menopause
and Migraines

Women are three times more likely to experience migraine than men – that’s a huge one in five of us. Here’s how Myla Health can help.

More than just a headache, migraine is an inherited neurological condition which causes a wide range of symptoms. Women who experience migraine often find it is triggered by hormone fluctuations during their menstrual cycle and may notice their migraine attacks changing as they enter the perimenopause. The attacks can become more frequent, more intense, longer-lasting and may not go away as easily with medication. Some women describe a feeling of being on the edge of a migraine most of the time or having a headache that never goes away.

Migraine can stop women living everyday life comfortably and impact on work and family, but it is treatable. When hormones are playing a role in triggering attacks, it is often useful to create hormonal stability. At Myla, we are experienced in using a variety of hormone treatments and other treatments to improve hormonal migraine.

All of our doctors are able to manipulate hormones to help treat and prevent migraine. Our migraine specialists are Dr Rebecca Walker who offers online appointments aswell as face-to-face appointments in Hove and Exeter.
